I’m Eric Atria and I am running for Alachua County Judge

Having worked in a courtroom for 20 years, I have learned what it takes to serve justice in our community.

Everyone who comes before the court should have an equal opportunity to be heard

while being treated with dignity, respect, and fairness.

23 years in Alachua County

  • My wife and I moved to Gainesville in 2002 to attend the University of Florida.

  • We fell in love with the community and chose to make it our home where we established our careers and are raising our family.

20 years of public service

  • My entire career has been dedicated to public defense and pro bono work.

  • I have handled approximately 10,000 criminal cases involving felonies, misdemeanors, appellate and juvenile law as well as working in our county’s mental health, veterans’, and drug courts.

  • I received the 2025 Florida Bar President’s Pro Bono Award for my volunteer work helping clients have wrongful arrests cleared from their records.

  • I have also handled cases involving civil suits, juvenile dependency, adoptions, traffic court, and landlord-tenant issues.

Involvement at the University of Florida

I give back to my alma mater, inspiring the next generation of lawyers by

  • Mentoring legal interns

  • Judging Trial Practice, Moot Court and Mock Trial

  • Speaking to student groups about the need for public service

  • Sharing real world experience as a guest lecturer
